Blue light flashing ----AGAIN!

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

The blue light on my litter robot open air is flashing - yet again!

I encountered this problem at the end of last year and ordered the DFI sensor replacement parts (after seeking advice and help from here ) - which I duly fitted and this solved the problem. However, less than a year later this problem has reoccurred and I am extremely unhappy at this. I ordered the parts on 11/9/20 order no 1500054208 and they arrived a couple of weeks later and then I fitted them a few days later.

I am now experiencing the same problem - AGAIN! - I have cleaned all the usual parts (as I did last time!) and performed a hard reset and my robot still has the blue blinking light signalling that the tray is full when it is not!

Do Litter robot expect their loyal customers (having purchased the litter robot 1, the bubble and now the open air - stupidly thinking that the latest model was improved - how wrong I was - I have experienced more problems with the open air than I ever did with the first two models!) to continue to purchase parts (expensive parts) every year to keep their robots working? to serve the actual purpose that they were purchased for? Neither the robots or parts are inexpensive!

Please resolve as I am now getting extremely annoyed with this robot and am not prepared to spend another £80 on yet another DFI sensor part in less than a year!

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hello @Foxyflugel ,

Welcome back to RobotShop community.

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot.

The DFI sensor requires regular cleaning (monthly or every 6 weeks) depending on the usage and the environment around the robot.

Please try to clean the 2 green circuit boards with isopropyl alcohol and a Q-Tip to remove any rust or dust from the small pins of the chips.

Then clean the Anti-Pinch pins with WD-40 and sandpaper.

Let us know how it goes.

Sincerely,

Hi Ebram and thanks for your prompt reply.

My robot gets thoroughly cleaned every 2 weeks - including all the connectors - pinch pins, DFI sensors etc.

I have cleaned them all again and it remains showing the blur blinking light. I also took a video (as in other posts) and the lights on the DFI sensors are alternating between 2 and 3 lights flashing (differing every flash) and I believe there should be 4?

Thanks

Hello @Foxyflugel ,

Thank you for your reply.

Were the circuit boards of the DFI sensor cleaned with isopropyl alcohol or just a dry Q-Tip?

The small pins of the chips on these boards could get easily corroded and cause the malfunction.

It’s not that obvious so you will need to look closely.

However, according to your description of the IR LEDs, the sensor is defective now and must be replaced.

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,

Hi Ebram

Yes they are cleaned as stated.

Could you please advise where I can escalate a formal complaint to.

I am extremely unhappy at this part being in use for less than 12 months and needing replacing (particularly when cleaned/maintained regularly). I am not prepared to pay again for the purchase of this part as I feel that this is not acceptable considering the age of the part and that the cost is expensive.

Thanks
