Our litter robot keeps flashing blue light, we turn it off and on, clean it and it will go back to working temporarily and then it starts again. It is currently flashing blue again and isn’t stopping.
I have cleaned the litter robot and tray, checked to see if anything is blocking the sensor with no luck.
The following troubleshooting should resolve the blue light blinking while the waste drawer is empty. Once resolved, the unit should consistently recognize when your cat visits and cycle accordingly.
To troubleshoot the blue blinking, let’s start by power cycling your unit:
1.) Leave your unit powered ON with the blue blinking light engaged & Unplug your power supply from the base
2.) Wait 10 seconds then plug the unit back in
3.) Allow the unit to complete a start‐up cycle. If the light is solid blue, the code has been successfully cleared. If the light is still blinking, let’s proceed with troubleshooting. Let’s empty the drawer if it has waste and reinstall the bag before proceeding.
Note: If you are using a dark colored bag, always tuck it into the tabs.
Turn off the unit and Unplug the power from the base
Remove the Bonnet and the Globe
Inspect the top of the Base where the Globe usually rests. Are there any debris? Small amounts of litter is normal. Clean as needed.
Inside the waste opening there are two clear ““Lenses”” (left and right side). Ensure there are no debris on the Lenses. Sometimes litter can fall/splash onto them. ** To clean the lenses, we recommend wiping them off with a soft damp cloth and/or glass cleaner. Do not directly spray the Base or DFI Lenses. **
Replace the Globe and Bonnet. Reset the black key in the back of the unit into the pocket. 6. Plug the unit back in. If you turned the power off, you will need to power it on and press ““cycle””. Once the cleaning cycle is complete, the unit should be at the Home position with a Solid Blue LED on.
Further Troubleshooting:
If the unit continues blinking blue, remove the waste drawer and press cycle.
Press reset 2x to abort the cycle and return the unit to home (it will level the litter).
If the unit goes to solid blue with the waste drawer removed, ensure there is nothing in the drawer blocking the lenses.
If the drawer is clear, your base needs to be repaired ‐ let us know that you tried the full troubleshooting without results.
Hi, I followed the steps to remove the litter tray and it worked for a few hours however now when I turn it on the orange light is flashing - even after emptying the cat litter out it is still flashing orange. What do you think the issue is? originally i thought it might be the DFI since it worked when the tray was removed.
It might still be the DFI sensor actually. Just to be sure, please try the following troubleshooting steps for the yellow blinking light. After that, please tell me if your still have blinking lights on the control panel. If only the yellow light is blinking, please mention if it’s blinking once or twice per second.
Based on the description of the yellow light blinking while the cycle has been interrupted, please follow the troubleshooting below to determine whether the issue is due to excess weight, the bonnet connection, or the Anti-Pinch safety feature:
*The blinking yellow light will switch to blinking red after 2 minutes if the cat sensor (CATS) has been continuously activated by excess weight. Please remove excess weight and check your unit for the following:
The litter is above the fill line or in excess of 10lbs.
The cat sensor has not been reset after adding weight
The waste drawer has too much weight
The unit is sitting on an uneven surface - grout lines on tile floor or in a bathtub.
The unit is pushed into a corner, against a wall, or furniture
Objects are resting or pressing on the unit
If the yellow light is blinking once per second:
Press the ‘Power’ button to turn the unit OFF.
Remove the bonnet and set it aside, then manually rotate the globe to the Home position.
Ensure the globe is on the track and lock the black key on the back of the globe into the pocket.
Replace the bonnet, ensuring all 4 tabs are secured.
Press the ‘Power’ button to turn the unit back ON.
**The globe will not rotate and the yellow light will blink if the issue is due to the bonnet connection. Please check that the key is fully inserted into the slot and that all 4 bonnet tabs are connected to the base of the unit.
The globe begins rotating counterclockwise with the solid yellow light on. After several seconds, press the ‘Reset’ button to pause the cycle.
While the cycle is paused, press ‘Reset’ again to cancel the cycle and return to Home position.
***The globe will stop and reverse direction for 2 seconds before stopping with the yellow light blinking fast if the Anti-Pinch safety feature has been activated. Your base will need to be repaired.
The globe will return to Home position with the solid blue light on when properly functioning.
If the yellow light is blinking twice per second:
The Anti-Pinch safety feature is two pin connected to the motherboard that must touched each other continuously.
If they are separated, you will have an alarm(yellow blinking light). The Anti-Pinch safety is located in the top back left of the Litter-Robot base. You will need to unplug the unit, remove the bonnet, the globe and the drawer.
It is ‘‘Two Metal’’ pin. With a flash light, you should be able to see if they are touching each other or not. If they are not touching each other, try to re-position it with a flat screw driver by pushing them upwards.
