Blink Blue light again after DFI replaced

I had a problem with a blue blinking light on my Liter Robot, I got a DFI from you and replaced it. The DFI worked for a few weeks and yet again the liter robot has a flashing blue light. I have tried to reset it, I have tried to reset the sensor and nothing works. Please Advise.

Hello @kg4gsn,

Welcome to RobotShop community.

We are sorry to hear that you are still having trouble with your Litter-Robot.

Please provide us with your order number.

Are there any blinking lights besides the blue one when you press “Reset”?

Sincerely,

Hello @kg4gsn,

Thank you for your reply.

Did you check the Anti-Pinch pins before replacing the DFI sensor?

If not, please check them now and follow this troubleshooting to clean them then test the robot again and let us know the results:

The Anti-Pinch safety feature is two pins connected to the motherboard that must touch each other continuously.

If they are separated, you will have an alarm(yellow blinking light). The Anti-Pinch safety is located in the top back left of the Litter-Robot base. You will need to unplug the unit, remove the bonnet, the globe and the drawer.

This video will help you locate them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJkQTXxkXXA

It is ‘‘Two Metal’’ pin. With a flashlight, you should be able to see if they are touching each other or not. If they are not touching each other, try to re-position it with a flat screwdriver by pushing them upwards.

Note: If the pins were dirty or rusty, you can take them out and clean them with WD-40 and sandpaper.

Sincerely,

I have checked the anti-pinch pins and make sure they were clean. Still getting a flashing blue light.

Hello @kg4gsn,

Thank you for your reply.

Alright there’s one last test to confirm if the DFI sensor is working properly or not.

Please remove the waste drawer and turn the lights of the room off.

Take the phone and open the camera but without the flashlight then look into the phone while pointing it at the left side circuit board of the DFI sensor like this picture:

You should be able to see some LEDs blinking together.

Let us know how many were blinking together.

Of course this test requires the unit to be powered on with the stead or blinking blue light.

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,

I just tried and saw all four lights blinking together. I should also add in that I did clean out the robot and made sure there was nothing blocking the beam.

This is odd, if the 4 lights are blinking together it means that the DFI sensor is working properly.

And since you have confirmed that you have cleaned the robot and there was nothing blinking the beam then it shouldn’t still give the blue blinking light.

Have you tried it while the waste drawer is outside?

Yep and still getting a blue blinking light

Hello @kg4gsn,

Thank you for your reply.

In this case, we recommend sending the robot to our repair center for inspection and repair.

We will need you to send us the base, the bonnet, and the power supply of the robot. No need to ship the drawer and the globe.

You can place the globe over the waste drawer and use them as a stationary litter box until the rest of the robot gets back to you.

We suggest a box dimension of 24 “wide x 18” deep x 24 "high. The Bonnet should be put in the box upside down on top of the litter base.

If you wish to proceed with this option let us know so we can move forward with the repair process.

Sincerely,

I am going to proceed with shipping the litter robot for repair. Please advise where do I need to send the device to?

What is also strange is when I push the reset button, and then push the cycle button, it will cycle and then blue light will flash.

Hello @kg4gsn,

Thank you for your reply.

This behavior happens with a faulty DFI sensor but since you have replaced it just 2 months ago then it’s odd to fail this fast.

So it’s better to proceed with the repair option.

We will forward you to our internal system to carry on with the repair process.

You will be contacted shortly.

Have a lovely day, stay safe.

Sincerely,
