Biped Scout - SSC32 + Arduino Mega

Hi all!

Ok this is my first project and my first thread, so bear with me…

First off here is my Scout;

Basically to break it down at the moment its running an SSC32 connected via serial to an Arduino Mega2560 (soon to be in small form factor version). I still haven’t decided my exact control method but at the moment I will probably just use my 6 channel 2.4Ghz radio connected to the PWM inputs of the Mega. Also you’ll notice I’m using cheap HK digital servos, these will get changed out as and when I can afford it or when they fail! (So probably tomorrow then!!)

At the moment its just got an all centre code to make it stand straight and its not too bad I’ve only got one jittery servo.

I’m writing the code to be a simple IK style system, not as flash or precise as most but hopefully enough to make it move around ok.

I’ll keep you all updated and no doubt i’ll be asking for help along the way.

Cheers Keith

The robot looks beautiful - and we really look forward to seeing its first steps on video!

Here is a quick video, nothing special just getting the hang of the setup. Got it to move on the spot in various directions. Also since I uploaded this video I’ve added a quick body angle change by pressing the L1 and R1 buttons. Points the nose up or down in 5 degree increments. Quite impressed with myself!!

Enjoy!

Keith

You’ll have it balancing on one foot and walking in no time. Really looking forward to the videos to come as well.

Would this thread be better off in the projects sections or is it ok here?

Your choice.

Ok I’ve moved this to the projects section, it seemed like a better place for it!

Do have any code you’d be willing to share? I’m pretty much using the same hardware. Thanks.

Have you published the code for this anywhere?
