Hey All,
Calculon is laying the groundwork for a new bot that is much bigger than his existing bots. He seeks input on where he can get cheap motors that operate in the neighborhood of 12 volts.
His priorities, in order, are:
-torque (30-40 lbs)
-cost
What do you guys recommend? Windshield wiper motors? Garage door openers? Power drill motors?
Pounds is not a torque, it
Pounds is not a torque, it is a weight or force.
Torque is inch-pounds or foot-pounds or oz-inchs or kg-cm, always a force with a lever arm length.
Any automotive motor (from a salvage yard) can be used as a high torque device operating at 12 volts. Some may require rewiring. Wiper motors, window motors, power seat motors, headlight cover motors.
**Yep Id hit up scrap yards**<br>Yep I
d hit up scrap yards or surplus places for big motors for a pittance. Check out the websites electronics goldmine or all electronics. They have some nice 2nd hand stuff. I just wish they posted out this way.
