I need a motor control module with the following characteristics:
- Bidirectional controlled by a logic level
- Input speed adjustable via a 0-5VDC input
- 24VDC Power Source
- 2A motor
This will be connected to a small PLC that has these signals available. The PLC will not generate a PWM signal for the readily available H-Bridge modules.
I need something that can be purchased in quantities for reasonable period of time.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Hi,
This Actuonix Linear Actuator Control Board might be interesting for you. It is intended to control Firgelli’s Linear Actuators but you can probably use it to control a DC motor with a PLC.
It has a 4-20mA control input and it can provide up to 4 Amps peak current at 5-24VDC.
Regards,
Perfect!!!
I am actually controlling a linear actuator.
Hi mccafferty,
The RoboClaw motor controllers that I use on ROVer may be a bit overkill if you just have the one motor, but I’m a fan… their support has been really great and from my experience the post-purchase assistance is invaluable in tweaking settings, etc, to get them working right.
I’ve actually just posted a test of my ROVer with his new 24v capabilities (I can now switch between 12v and 24v depending on the torque requirements):

I’ve got a bunch of videos about the RoboClaw implementation if you’re interested - just let me know. Good luck with the project!

No Kosinski
All that comes to mind is WOW!
My little project wouldn’t even be on the radar screen with that.
Very nice work
haha, thanks… it’s very much a work in progress. But it’s fun to learn… and that’s the whole point!
Be sure to share your project when you get a chance; love seeing what people are doing - it’s motivating!
