Best Small low RPM motor for Pinocchio's nose?

I have been given the task to make Pinocchio’s nose grow for an upcoming middle school production of Shrek Jr. I am looking to use the inside of a lipstick case for the growing nose part, but am trying to find the best small low RPM motor for turning it. It only needs to turn 1 full revolution and all the small dc motors that I have found are in the 5800 rpm range! The low RPM motors that I have found have been either high voltage or very large - can’t hide it in a costume nose, for sure!

Any thoughts? The plan is to have the wires run down their sleeve to their hand where a DPDT switch will allow them to make it go both forward or reverse, or not move at all.

Thanks!

You have one of three ways of lowering the RPM:

  1. Choose a DC gear motor
  2. Use a DC motor controller
  3. Lower the input voltage (not the best option)

… or any combination of the above

Most DC motors (no gearing) provide ~10,000rpm, so in order to get 1RPM, you need to provide ~10,000:1 gearing, which is not easy. A motor which can fit inside a tube of lipstick is inherently small, and fitting such a high gear ratio into such a confined space is not very common. Consider the following as ideas:

Another option would be a small linear actuator:

You can also consider pneumatics (using two syringes).
