Ive been designing a hand on CAD software, with the plan to have it made in GRP or something simular using Stereolithography or some other form of prototyping.
I’m based in the UK and looking for facilities nearby (west midlands area) but its not important as long as they can send it through the mail.
Obviously i dont want to pay stupid money for a bunch of small-ish parts! Anyone have any idea’s of which is best to use, places to use or anyone gone down this route before?
For rapid prototyping (3D printer), you really want to use ABS, printed from a Dimension machine. Models produced that way are strong, can be worked with, and indeed can be used as a production piece (depending on your level of finish required).

something simular using Stereolithography or some other form of prototyping…
dont know if i may help you much,…
Ebay this:
mouldable plastic,
Morph-Plast.
Reusable Plastic Repair or Construction Plastic
Injecition moulding without the moulds, use like modeling clay , then sets hard ( also sold as Maji-plast in mainland europe )
Morphplast is a reusable plastic compound, it comes in easy to handle granules with a instruction leaflet
Make impact resistant, supertough plastic parts in minutes, rigid yet fully impact resistant
(if you can bend it , it will not break, but its very hard to bend)
When heated in hot water for a few min. this product will become easily mouldable and simple to form, when cool it forms a tough plastic part, can be reused / reshaped any number of times!
This product has thousands of uses…
Making replacement parts for braken items ( morotcycles, bikes, cars, computers ), making moulds, making parts for rc models and crafts etc
After placing in hot water for a few min. this product will become fully mouldable, it can also be heated by microwave!, or by a cigarette lighter for on the road repairs You can mould this product around an item to lock the parts together, use it to form a mould, use in model engineering as you dont have access to injection moulding
