Best Arm for Painting

I have really enjoyed using the 4DOF LSS Articulated Arm for a year to draw with an easel onto canvas.
However I think I may reached the limitations of the arm in terms of controlling smooth arcs in 3D.

The uArm Swift Pro Standard 4 DoF Metal Robotic Arm w/ Bluetooth and Suction Cup is sold partly on its ability to draw.
I am wondering if I will be able to command smooth 3d motion with this arm.

Hence my question. What is the best robotic arm for painting?

@fpstidston Welcome to the RobotShop Community. Is there any reason you are opting for a robotic arm as opposed to, say, a XYZ table? For example:

Since this does not include a router, you can fabricate a brush holder.
If you just want something quick and easy, consider polymorph:

This would be the most accurate way to create custom paintings using a “robotic” method.

Hi @cbenson, thanks for the suggestion.

I think I am going for something that can pick up different tools and dip them in paint or water away from the canvas.
This gives me another angle to consider

The arm you linked to has a suction cup, so likely not the best option. A 3DoF arm tends to be more accurate than an articulated arm, but many (though not all) lack a gripper at the end.

If precision is not critical, you might consider an articulated 5DoF arm like the one below. You can paint with the canvas vertically or horizontally, and picking up brushes should be easy.
