Battery safety and specs

Batteries can be dangerous little things if handled improperly, so here are a few tips for not blowing them up.

Misuse of NiMh batteries can result in the batteries short-circuiting, the insulator melting and damage to the safety mechanisms, leading to leakage, heat generation, or rupturing. Please observe the following precautions when using batteries.

]Always charge your batteries in the garage or inside a metal container. If a battery does happen to catch on fire, you don’t want it to be on your living room carpet.
/
:m]
]NEVER charge batteries at over 1C. Our charger can charge at 900mAh and 1.8Ah. [list]]Use the 900mAh setting for BAT-01, -02, and -03. /:m]]Use 1.8Ah for BAT-04 and -05./:m]
/
:m]
]NEVER expose batteries to intense heat.
/
:m]
]NEVER connect the battery with the positive (+) and negative (-) lines reversed. Our batteries are polarized, this means that the connectors only fit together one way. If it doesn’t fit, flip it around.
/
:m]
]It’s normal for a battery to get warm while charging. If it gets hot though, IMMEDIATELY unplug it from the charger.
/
:m]
]Be sure to unplug or switch off your battery when you are finished using it.
/
:m]
]Do not get the battery wet. This may lead to the battery generating heat or rusting.
/
:m]
]Do not use the battery if it shows signs of leakage, a change of color or shape or any other changes in appearance./:m][/list:u]

Our BAT-01, -02, and -03 batteries should take 102 minutes to charge fully, and BAT-04 and -05 should take about 90 minutes. That being said, however, it may take a few charge/discharge cycles in order to get maximum capacity from a new pack, or one that has been in storage.

The USC-02 battery charger has a single status light. If no battery is connected to the charger when powered on, it will blink between red and green and then shut off.

When a battery is connected, the light will be a solid red when charging, and solid green when the battery is charged.
