I’m building a RC riding mower, and its almost done. Right now, the battery I’m using for the RC parts (Dual motor controller, linear actuator, wiper motor) is a 12v Lead Acid battery.
Is this the correct battery to use? I do have battery charger, so I can charge the battery. Or I could use a 12v battery with higher amp so I get longer run time?
I’m new to RC and electronics in general. But what about lipo battery? According to my research, this is the battery most people use for RC because its light and offers 3-4 times the battery life.
Please help me choose
You’re converting an ride-on mower to RC operation and are looking for a battery to operate the electronics? If the total current draw is not too high, why not just siphon from the mower’s main 12V battery?

Common, high capacity, safe and good discharge rate. Quite heavy though. This is only a comment about battery technology as opposed to your specific situation.

Higher capacity battery = heavier, so more current draw from the motor. Too low a capacity and your mower won’t operate for long.

If it’s a real ride-on mower, then the weight savings is negligible. Do you really also need high discharge current?

Thank you. Yes, the mower is a real Craftsman ride on mower. And from your reply, it sounds like using the on-board mower battery is the best solution.
Unless there’s high current draw, the lead acid battery powering the motor should be fine. You might also add an On/Off switch to prevent the electronics from always drawing power.

Thank you, yes, I think you’re right, I don’t have any need for high current draw, meaning I’m not going to use more than 1 servo most of the time while mowing the grass. I’ll add the on/off switch also. Thank you
