Battery for chassis mantis

Hi,

We ordered a Mantis 4WD Off-Road Rover Kit (product code: RB-Sct-921).
We would like to know what capacity of battery is necessary for a function under load (4-5 kg) and an autonomy of 2 hours.
Thank you in advance for your return.

Best Regards,

The discharge current always relates to the usage - is it turning a lot? Going up and down terrain? Carrying a heavy load?
The stall current of the motors is 20A, so you can assume around 2.5-5A continuous per motor, or 10-20A for all four motors.
Therefore at 12V, 12A, you’d need at least 12V, 10Ah battery for one hour, or a 12V, 20Ah (or two 12V, 10Ah) for two hours of continuous use, which is on the large side.

Given that this platform has a passive suspension system, it’s quite possible that two 10Ah battery would cause it to sag quite a bit.
We would suggest starting with an 11.1V (3S) LiPo. Unfortunately the manufacturer does not give data on the payload capacity.

We are looking to enter such batteries (higher capacity LiPo) but do not have any at this time.
