I still can’t connect my darn Atom to my computer… The power LED is opened so I know it’s on. I try to connect it, I see that when I change were I plug the wire, one COM changes, so I choose that one. Try to connect… Lags for about 5 seconds, and then continue like if nothing…
Which cable is it? Does it connect directly to your PC or does it go through a USB hub?
Is your computer a desktop or a portable? Some USB ports on some computers do not supply enough power for the usb to serial cable to work properly for some reason. you might check to see if your USB port is supplying enough power. On my machine I was having problems with a BAFO cable and I then connected it through a Linksys high speed USB hub and it works great. I changed machines, but I still connect that way as I know it works
If you are powering by battery, have you checked the battery?
Do you have other things plugged into the board? If so you might try unplugging them to make sure that you do not have any shorts.
Because it used to work, logic tells me it should be able to work again. Basic troubleshooting will resolve the issue. Can the Atom be programmed on a different PC? Can the USB to serial cable work with another device? Troubleshooting is nothing more than a process of elimination. Start eliminating the possible causes.
