Availability of other Roomba models (Dirt Dog, 532, 562)?

Will RobotShop be carrying the Roomba Dirt Dog? What about the new “Pet Series” (the 532 & 562)? If you will be carrying them, do you have any information regarding availability date and pricing?

Also, on somewhat of a sidenote, if someone were to take advantage of your Roomba trade-in offer, is it possible for two Roombas to be sent in together, each as trade-in for a different Roomba? Also, if the batteries are dead, do they need to be included with the trade-in or can they simply be turned in to one of the battery recycling centres? My brother and I both have older model Roombas (mine’s a Discovery and I believe his is a 400 series) with dead batteries and semi-worn-out brushes. Considering the improvements (soft-touch bumpers, better handling of pet hair, easier to clean front wheel, etc.) in the newer models and the relatively high cost of new batteries and the pet kit brushes to get the old machines working again, we’re considering trading in the old models. If we have to pay for individual shipping, however, the cost of sending them in may be as much as the trade-in value; shipping them in together should be less expensive but we weren’t sure whether that would work.

Hi dcalder,

Welcome to the RobotShop Community dcalder!

We are currently waiting for details on the availability and pricing for the DirtDog and the Roomba 500 pet series.

Please note that the only difference between the pet models and the original 530 and 560, are the brushes and dust bins. The robot themselves are exactly the same.

The pet series come with easier to clean brushes and a sweeping dust bin (without a vacuum) much like the DirtDog.

As for the trade-in program, it is absolutely possible to send in two Roombas together as part of two different trade-ins. Therefore, you and your brother can each order a robot using the trade-in program and print out a copy of your invoice. You may then send both robots with a copy of both invoices. Your new robots will then be sent to you separately (all orders above $250 are shipped free).

If you would like to place both robots on the same invoice, you will need to contact us by phone since our website will only take 1 trade-in program.

All we ask for with the trade-in program, is the robot itself. You do not need to send in your battery or accessories, unless you would like us to recycle them.

We will get back to you once we recieve more information concerning the DirtDog and pet models.

At the present the Roomba 500 pet models are being tested and are not for general distribution. They will only be available for a certain amount of time on the manufacturers website.

The Dirt Dog is also only being sold by the manufacturer at this time.

We currently do not have any specific date when these robots will be available through Robotshop.

One suggestion would be to purchase a Roomba 530 or 560 and to buy pet brushes once they become available.
