Although I have experience with electronics, I am a newbie when it comes to mechanics. I was recently given a Lynx 5 Robotic Arm and was very excited as I have been wanting to get into robotics for some time… I am having trouble reading / following the assembly guides provided for the arm. I know I must sound like a complete idiot, but I just cannot follow them but do not want to give up. For instance, the very first step when I read the instruction which is just a box with a picture of a rod and screw and then look at the figure tot he side, I cannot tell which side the washer is supposed to go and what bit extends to the other side and how the connection is actually made.
Can anybody please assist me in interpreting and following the assembly guide, or if other more idiotic inclined instructions can be found?
One day I will be the best robot builder in the world and I will not forget these humble beginnings
Could you please provide a link to the page you’re having trouble with? It’ll be easier for us to help you if we can be sure we’re all talking about the same thing.
I am referring to every step in the assembly guides provided on this forum… i am trying to undertsand how best to interpret thema nd the precise sequence of instructions because folloiwng instructions and then looking at figures in the column don’t seem to mash
Step 1 isn’t nearly as complicated as I think you’re trying to make it. I’m not sure where you’re seeing a washer, as there aren’t any in this step…
Just take the two hex spacers and thread the smaller one into the bigger one. That’ll make the piece you see in Figure 1. Use a .25" screw to connect the spacer to the lexan panel.
Regarding your posting - due to anti-spam measures we’ve had to take for the forum, you won’t be able to post links for the first 24 hours after your account has been activated. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it was a necessary one.
The best way to do these assemblies is to take some time before you begin building to just read through the assembly documents. Take a look at all the pictures, look at the parts you have and take a look at what you’re going to end up with when the build is done.
The more time you take to understand how the components work together to create the finished robot, the easier the build will be.
Thank you for all of your responses. I know my query was not entirely clear, it was not necessarily the first step that troubled me, it was the assembly guide generally. However, indirectly you have answered my question and I have apparently resolved the confusion I had with the guide… so thanks.
