Are these RFiD tags passive?

I was interested in buying the SparkFun Ultra-Small UHF RFID Tags (link at bottom of post), but I can’t tell if these are active or passive RFID tags. I’m new to this, and even after reading the spec sheet, I still can’t tell.

ALSO, any guess as to what the range (in yards or meters) might be as far as reading these? As I understand it, the smaller the tag, the shorter the range. I wanted to attach these to my hearing aids so I can use an RFID reader to find them if I lose them.

Here’s the link to the page for the product.

Hello @jsctro and welcome to the RobotShop community!

The SparkFun Ultra-Small UHF RFID Tags are passive tags so the reading range varies by the output power of the reader, for example, you get 1 inch read/write range with the UHF Ring Antenna, or 1 to 2 feet with the Simultaneous RFID Reader - M6E Nano onboard antenna or up to 16 feet (4.9m) with an external antenna. However, active tags can be read over much larger distances than passive tags (tens of feet) because they have their own internal power supply for an increased range.
