Are the servos supposed to keep turning, or stop?

Have I completely misunderstood how servo’s work?

When I boot up Lynxterm and move my servos 1500 sets them turning at a slow rate, doesn’t stop. If I increase the number they speed up, if I decrease a bit they stop. If I decrease it more they turn the other direction.

It seems the number tells my servos how fast to spin, and above 1500~ one way, bellow 1500~ the other.

Is this normal?

what make servo do you have. sound like you have a continuous rotation servo and not a standard 180 degree! if you do then this would be normal nature for a continuous servo.
