Arduino Yun PoE Issue

In looking at the product page for the Arduino Yun, I noticed the following text at the bottom:

Note: The PoE module is not compatible with the Yun because it is a 12V module while the Yun needs a 5V module.

I looked at the Arduino website and found this:

Note : early models of the Yún with a PoE adapter were incorrectly providing the board with 12V. An updated version will soon be provided to distributors that provide the expected 5V. If you believe you have the wrong PoE adapter on your board, please contact [email protected]

I was wondering if someone could clarify whether there are any issues currently with the Arduino Yun that you carry. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jaziz, welcome to our forums!

The issue isn’t with the Yun but the PoE module that was chosen by Arduino. Most Arduino boards accept 6V-12V input so a 12V PoE module was chosen, but the Yun doesn’t have a regulator and only supports 5V input, making the PoE module incompatible with it. Arduino is working on changing the module for another one that would work with the Yun.

Currently, the RB-Ard-27 is still the 12V version, so unfortunately not compatible with the Yun.
