Arduino Uno R3 not recognized by windows

Hello,

I recently bought a Arduino Uno R3 from your shop and after several attempts it doesnt not seem to want to be recognized by windows.

the amber led (L) and green led (ON) light up, but there is no entry in the windows device manager.

i uninstalled all virtual com devices and serial ftdi drivers, and reinstalled the arduino uno driver.
i also installed the latest arduino ide (1.05)

i tried with 3 different usb cables, and tried to do a reset with the reset button.
i also tried on 2 different laptops with no ide’s or usb-to-serial software installed, and it produced the same result.(nothing)

Plugging it in or disconnecting it, does not generate the hardware found or disconnected sound in windows.

my dev pc is a windows 7 x64 one laptop was a vista x32 and the other laptop was a windows 7 x32

Please advise…

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried following these instructions: arduino.cc/en/Guide/Windows

If you still can’t get it working, the part might be defective. Please submit a ticket in our Support Center (in the Exchanges departement) so that we can get you a replacement. Please include a link back to this discussion thread.
