Can anyone tell me if the Arduino libraries for the A1M8 LIDAR also work for the A2M8 and if not whether libraries exist anywhere?

Short answer: yes.
Detailed answer:
On the product page for the A1M8 (RB-Rpk-03) under Useful Links you will find the link to the appropriate SDK.
Similarly, on the product page for the A2M8 (Rb-Rpk-02) under Useful Links you will find a few more files, including a link to the SDK.
You probably noticed by now they are both using the same SDK.
While the two products are different and have different capabilities, the interface they provide is essentially the same for most uses and therefore compatible for all the basic operations such as starting/resetting the device and capturing data.
