I was searching for a shield to connect my Android to the Arduino uno but I don’t know if I can connect with wifi-direct. I don’t want to use Bluetooth or router. Do the shields in the store allow me to connect directly to the android? If not can you tell me a shield that I can connect directly to the Android? This is a project for my school so I prefer a cheap solution, if not It’s ok.
Thank you for your reply.
It can be pretty hard to setup a wifi shield in wifi-direct / ad-hoc mode and connect to it with an Android because the ad-hoc mode is not entirely supported by neither the wifi shields nor Android itself, depending on the parts and versions used.
We would instead recommend using an Arduino Yùn which includes a wifi chip that makes an access point.
Once you have the access point setup properly, you should be able to easily connect to with with any device that supports wifi, including all versions of Android.
We hope this helps,
