just out of curiosity I put an SSC-32 in the carts at that website, told it to ship to EU, came out to £44.42 which if google is correct is about 88.16 USD. owie…
What does VAT stand for? Value Added Taxation?
(sorry, a somewhat rhetorical question, please don’t de-rail this guys thread.)
We have discussed UPS rates to death here. The fact is UPS is upping their prices because of high jet fuel prices. However, as the order gets larger the shipping becomes more reasonable. Not that it is ever reasonable! I’m still waiting for my website programmer to finish the USPS support for the website. Yes I know it’s taking forever…
hmm, I’m thinking you may have misunderstood what I was trying to show with that. I was not poking at the UPS problems with costly international shipping that you deal with here in the US. I put the SSC-32 in the Active Robots website cart, not Lynxmotions, just to see what the prices were for shipping. Active Robots is UK based so I was curious what the shipping rates were to another UK or EU location from there. It looks like their base price is about 50% higher than bought in the US, one would assume that was them recovering their shipping costs from the US to them, and then the VAT+their shipping almost doubles the price vs. what we would pay in the US. I just found that to be kinda harsh was all… not like there is too much that can be done about it really. Even when the USPS shipping comes online the EU will still have to pay the VAT on top of it plus the international shipping rate (sans the UPS special fees of course). I mean I get annoyed with 5% sales tax locally…
