Anyone tried vertical lift on tracks?

Hello, new forum member here. Stopped by to ask what might be the best way of using tracked motors to lift and lower a servo based mobile manipulator. I’m not specifically wanting to know the deep end, but what might work right of the shelf with custom frame rails for the motor to climb up & down, holding its place. Has anyone seen or done something that would accomplish the same with less work, I don’t want to try to reinvent the wheel sort of thing.
Happy to see lots of related treads in the arm department but none that I might be able to piece together something that will move 4’ vertically.

Create, proto usb, intel p4, kinect sensor, 5DOF arms.

Try chains and sprockets, or racks and pinion gears:

Super, thats great. thanks for that Alan. Looks like a simple enough rig. Something a pair of drawer rails can handle.

Drawer rails work good.

You can add a cable and pulley system to pull the cart up and down.
