I would like to plug the RB-ESM-03 directly into a compatible motor driver board. I currently have the pololu drv8835 which does not appear to have encoder support.
Does anyone knopw a motor driver board compatible with the Raspberry Pi, that supports encoders?
Or do I just connect the encoder channels directly to the pi? - this would be tricky since most of the gpio pins are taken by the drv8835
Hi,
We have motor drivers with encoder inputs, but they are much more expensive. The DRV8835 Driver Kit for Raspberry only uses four GPIOs so there is plenty of GPIOs left for reading the encoders. There are plenty of examples on how to do this on the web. If you really want an all in one driver, the Phidgets 1065 Motor Controller is a single driver with encoder input. Don’t hesitate if you have any questions. Best regards,
