Anyone ever consider Hydrogen, or Steam?

I think either one of this sources has the potential to be pretty cool. Unique if nothing else. For hydrogen you could either use a hydrogen cell, and a reactor, OR you could implement your own hydrogen extractor (wrong word?) and have a robot that ran on water https://www.newsforpublic.com/hydrogen-water-secret-effectiveness/ . Now that would be cool! especially if it was some form of aquatic bot.

Steam on the other hand would also be relatively easy to do. I bet you could even make little steam powered servos. Although I’d love to see a pneumatic steam robot build all out of brass and wood ah la steam punk. Infact, if and when I ever build me a bipod, I’d love to atleast make a brass tubbing super structure…

Forgive me if I am mistaken, but electrolysis is a relatively simple process involving nothing more then a battery, some graphite electrodes, and some salt water.

Seems pretty simple, I really like their design for the actual system.
The next step would be to figure out how to harness the hydrogen.
Ideas?

RobotShop used to carry Horizon Fuel Cell (horizonfuelcell.com) educational kits which powered small robots. They had a few methods to create the hydrogen needed - a wind turbine; a small solar panel and a plug-in generator / station, and stored it in a small pressurized tank called a “hydrostick”. The same approach has been used to power drones.

The process (in its entirety) is obviously more complex than charging a battery, but it does have some distinct advantages.
Toyota’s Mirai is hydrogen-based and they are trying to promote it by offering free hydrogen fueling.
Most people associate Hydrogen with “boom”, so having the general population accept it is likely the challenge.
