Any Hitec servo between the HS-5645MG and HS-5955TG?

Is there any SES compatible servo between the capabilities of the HS-5645MG (168 oz/in) and the HS-5955TG (333 oz/in) servos?

It seems like going from the HS-5645MG at $55.00 to the HS-5955TG at $115.00 is quite a jump. It’s not a bad jump going from an HS-645MG (analog, 133 oz/in) to an HS-5645MG (digital, 168 oz/in), but it seems like there should be a servo with capabilities (and price) between the HS-5645MG and the HS-5955TG (digital, 333 oz/in).

Doesn’t Hitec make any servo to fill this gap that would sell for something around $75.00 or so?

I don’t mind paying for the capabilities I need in a servo for a project, but I also don’t care to pay for more than I need (with a bit of headroom). If I need something stronger than an HS-5645MG, that’s fine. However, if I don’t need something as strong as an HS-5955TG, I would rather get something less (and pay less).

I guess it just seems silly to me for there not to be at least one servo to fill the capability/price gap I see.

yeah! exactly same thing I though for a long time, i’s anoying doing a 2X jump… but, after looking, no, theres nothing, a gap, like in other compagnies theres like a 220 oz./in. servos (but, there not hiteh, so  ), not for hitec, that what they should do.

You could look into the Futaba digitals. Or if you want to spend alot of money, the JR digitals are awesome servos as well.

I already looked at the Futaba line, and they don’t have anything within the range gap I am looking for either. :frowning: I wonder if there are manufacturing issues that cause a company to have such a wide gap in capabilities in their servo line.

The idea is not to spend a lot of money, and not pay for more than what is actually needed as far as servo power. The servo must be fully SES compatible also.

Well here is a 403 oz/in Digital standard for $139

The Futaba S9153 is 208 oz/in for $99

Futaba’s other 200+ oz/in servos are $100 and up. Looks like Hitec has the best prices for high torque digitals. And yes, there is quite the gap between the $50 servos and the $100 servos. And yet their torques overlap.

Could possibly be the change over to coreless motors that ups the price. Those little buggers are expensive.

I can’t see myself spending that much unless that much torque is really needed for a project.

The price on this one is so close to the Hitech HS-5955TG, that I’d spend the additional $15.00 and get the Hitech servo (and the 333 oz/in torque).

I guess I just need to know what justifies the huge jump in price between the HS-5645MG and the HS-5955TG other than the increased torque. There has to be something besides the increased torque.

I guess this could be it then. It still seems like somebody could make a servo to fill the 168 oz/in to 333 oz/in gap (like around 250 oz/in or so) and keep the price reasonable, like around $75.00 or so, too.

The geartrain material is a big thing. Titanium is expensive and hard to machine compared to steel. Check out the robonova servos. They might be what you are looking for.

but they’re not compatible with the SES, so no with the robonova
