Any builders near Pasadena?

Hello,

So I really hope that I can find some help here. I have a simple problem that I am sure is easy to solve but I do not have the knowledge or experience. I need to hire someone to help design and build what I need. My small but growing company fills oral syringes (no needle) with an oil mix. This is currently being done by hand. Pick up the syringe which has the plunger inside the barrel. Stick the tip into the oil. Pull back the plunger. Lift out the syringe so that the fill level can be seen. Empty a portion of the oil to the desired fill. Wipe the excess oil from the tip of the syringe. Put the tip cap onto the syringe. Done.

With our growth we need semi-automation or full automation. This is done one of two ways. Either the oil is pushed into the end tip hole, filling the syringe and pushing the plunger back as it fills until the desired volume is reached, or by inserting the end tip into an nozzle or orifice and pulling back on the plunger to fill the syringe. Designing and building around 20 simple machines that will repeat the variable and accurate pull of the plunger is what I want to do. It would need to be variable because the fills can range from between .2ml and 1ml. Each run would only be for one particular volume. The accuracy needs to be within 2%. There are various way to design this but this can be discussed further.

I know very little about servos, actuators, pneumatic linear screw drives, etc. I know of several “pharma” units that I could buy off the shelf, but the prices are not fair at all. I would be better served to find someone and make these units. I just need someone that can help decide on the parts, the design, and help build it. Of course this would be a paid job. I am in Pasadena and would prefer to work with someone local but this is not a must.

If you or someone you know would be interested please call me at 310-936-2447

Thx,

Jeff

Oh and to clarify, I am in Pasadena, California

I am sorry to see no replies for help near my location in Pasadena CA. I am willing to pay for the job. Tomorrow I will head to a local supplier of motor control components to see if I can get help determining all components and possibly pay them to build what I need. I will build one at first but eventually build at least 10 more.

If you don’t get any replies here, consider contacting your local university’s mechanical or electrical engineering department to see if any students want to make some money on the side.

Thanks for the advice. California Polytechnic is not far from me.
