I have been at work with eMachineShop again and was playing around with several different types of chest plates to get a more hi-tech look.
The front has two 5mm holes for LED lights. The design is thick, but I could not make it any thinner with out errors. I guess it could brake while machining if it was any thinner.
Also, this design might only work with a rover type base since weight would be an issue. The design is inspired from the movie “Robo Cop” I don’t care for the movie, but it does have some nice designs in it.
How about vaccuum forming the pieces? or maybe injection molding like they use for plastic models? By the way that is a cool rendering, I just think the cost for machining would be prohibitive. If you vacuum formed it, you could build the equipment yourself from household items. Its time consuming (at first, learning curve required) but not very expensive and CHEAP to do.
