Animatronic alien hand (need help)

want to make an animatronic alien hand. Any ideas for the actual hand and fingers? The servos are not a problem, and I was thinking of using hexapod legs for the three fingers - but the actual palm of the hand is what I don’t see on the site. It does not need to be very big, about the same size as a small human hand.

Hi, Andre.
there are lots of design you might like to.

using ses legs would make the hand massive but you can always adopt some of the components.

I like that second one a lot (The Mr. Roboto)

I like the hand! Where did you find it? Any more info?

It’s tempting to make up some hand parts from the pix!

I like the hand also, just wish I could see the palm better.

I think you can see it enough!

It’s a flat piece, with small half-circle “knuckles”, and another for the thumb. The thumb gear is not lit very well.

Thanks … that’s exactly what I need.

there is lots of info through google on the first hand.
The MechaTE Robot Hand was developed by Custom Entertainment Solutions to provide a robust mechanical hand platform for any number of applications. The design allows for the programmer to animate this hand quickly (only 5 servos to manage) while giving optimal realistic motion through 14 joints. The sensitivity of the finger compliance can be adjusted by the user. A standardized ½” wrist socket at the back of this hand allows for easy connection to an existing robotic / animatronic figure. Custom Entertainment Solutions can also provide tailor-made animatronic robotics to your specifications.

That’s quite a hand! I didn’t realize it’s available.

yeah its been about for a while now. prob cheaper to make ones own. a plate palm, and a few ball baring jointed digits, push rods and servos.

would be quite cool to see a full size SES hand. be like the hulk.

Hi Jonny,

Very interesting find! In some kind of way you always make me bump in to interesting stuff over the web.

Thanks for sharing!!

This thread has got me thinking now… shall i… shan’t i…
a massive SES hand does sound quite cool. hold that thought! :unamused:

Anyway here is also a very low cost hand i have found. i have loads of these toggle clips in my shed. mainly used for dry wall fixtures.

Jonny,

Did you just make that? Is it functional?

You never cease to amaze me!

This is absolutely fantastic. Matter of fact it has given me an idea, pics this weekend.

Are those regular screws connecting the sections of the fingers???
