Analog joystick+Arduino+2.4GHz receiver?

I’m looking for some help with this project as I’m not sure exactly what hardware I need to get started.

Basically I’m building a ground station and want to use a 4 axis analog joystick to control servos and camera controller plugged into a 2.4Ghz receiver (Futaba, Spektrum etc) on an RC helicopter. I also want to have some switches in the ground station which could also control anything else plugged into the receiver.

All this needs to be done without having it tethered to a 2.4 RC controller on the ground, so the ground station needs to have its own transmitter module.

I have never done this before so any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Craig

Thankyou

Here’s a repackaged all-in-one version:

Thanks for the awesome products!

I built a controller for the Rover from an Arduino and an XBee:

With the lid off, it looks like this:

Nicely done indeed!

Very well done. Paint it black, stick a fake logo somewhere and people will be asking where you bought it.

Unfortunately, we do not carry any RC transmitters (that are not full controllers), so you will need to source that at a local hobby store.

You can use a microcontroller such as Arduino along with accessories such as these ones to complete your project:
