I like it!

great work, very realistic!

:open_mouth: Woah…

Next time, HL2 Headcrab!

Yikes!!!

Cool! I love the huge amount of detail you put in there!

Best part, only one servo to actuate it. lol

Made by an artist…
Very professional!

Do you have any robotic/animatronic plans for this one?

Actually holding out on you here…
The truth is this is the maquette for a larger scale cast i plan on making. the finish larger version should be about 1ft in length, giving it a 1:3rd - 1:4th scale of the “Real thing”.

and yes… it will move.
the lips and jaw will be controlled using 5 servos. no inner jaw will be added as i will be looking at the finish rather than function.

thanks.
its kinda an animatronic desktop piece. but hush dont tell anyone.!

or maybe facehugger

of course this would be a very large-over sized facehugger.

You are magic …

Thank you.
Had a bit of time to work on the other side this evening.
a nice little tip:
placing a mirror behind it allowed me to “trace” the same patterns to the other side! :bulb:

Hello Innerbreed,
really fantastic… Hollywood awaits you,sincerely

What do you use like “custom” tools to sculpt each details? only metal wire?
I’m looking for Sculpey Polymer Clay to make my abdomen

Cool! A lot of great thing can be done if you cast this (or a bigger version) into something like latex. It would be really cool to see it move!

BTW. Have you ever see how they controlled the facehuggers? They had a bunch of wires running out of the back to control the legs. It would be cool if somebody can stuff enough sevos in there to get it to move by itself.

PS. Don’t forget to finish the hawk project to

yeah i kinda started a thread on it. also shows the puppeteers in the background.

really you can use anything.
i use everything i have, depending on what texture im after.
pressing sandpaper on to the clay and then with a little orange brown and black paint will give a very realistic rusted metal effect.

i have a few dental tools that i use. i have all of these. although the mirror wont give you texture! :unamused:
but very handy when inspecting bolts and thing hidden in an SES assembly.

the tool at the bottom was the only tool i use for this sculpture.

At my yearly dental visit, I always ask my dentist if he has any broken dental tools that he could part with. I often get one or two to add to my collection. Even the broken ends can be ground into shapes useful for sculpting.

IF, i build the larger one, or even convert this one into a working model i already know the process i will have to take.
but it wont be any time soon due to funding and other present projects i have in line.
i will how ever 'still be updating this thread for those who are interested.

To sculpt the larger one i will need to build the jaw first. this is a simple mold casting process but will be the time consuming part. once i have the jaw working i will then sculpt over this 'adding the rest of the head crest.

Im planning on using this sculpt as the working model due to cost of sculpting, moulding, casting, painting, polishing, layering, fabricating, and adding the control mech for a larger version.

i should start moulding and casting next week.

One hallow plastic Alien Head.
