ALD5 arm/Medium-Duty Wrist Rotate Kit servos not working

Order#: 1300014836, ordered on the 26.7.16

Hello!

I’ve a problem with the servos in the Medium-Duty Wrist Rotate Kit for the ALD5 arm (the version with the Feetech FS6535M replacement servo): they do not work.
The wrist servo is connected to channel 4 and the gripper servo is connected to channel 5 on the SSC-32U USB Servo Controller. First I’ve connected the wrist and gripper servos as mentioned in the assembly guide (= with extender cables; colors are the same of both sides of the connection), but I wasn’t able to get the servos to work that way. Then I tried connecting them without the extender cables and got the same result: no sign of life from the servos. They also do not show up in the SSC-32 Servo Sequencer Utility program (all other servos do and can be controlled this way).
The A/B LEDs are both shining constantly; the blue power LED does the same.
I’ve attached a few pictures showing the robot in hope this might help.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Thank you for the pictures. Assuming that you connect the provided 6 V DC power supply and a USB cable from the SSC-32U to your computer, then at a first glance, everything seems fine with your wiring and setup.

By not showing, we assume you mean they are grayed out/unchecked (see below)?

If so, please note that the sequencer by default only activates 4 channels and these have nothing to do with what is connected on the SSC-32U (it does not have a way to detect servomotors that are connected). Simply check the channels you wish to use to activate them in the software.

Of course, make sure to set the baud rate to 9600 (default baud rate of the SSC-32U) and the proper COM port.

Sincerely,

That’s it, problem solved! Everything works now. Thanks for the quick response and help!
