After many hours I’m having some trouble controlling the ARM from the PS2/RC. I am probably missing something simple - here is what i’ve done
-AL5D arm with SSC-32v2 -> works great with LynxTerm - all axes just fine. (also includes HD wrist rotate)
-BotBoard-II seems to be functioning too - test programs which make tones and read the buttons work fine.
- I connected the SSC32 to the Botboard2. Yes i did these things - following these instructions: lynxmotion.com/images/html/build091.htm
-baud rate jumpers on SSC32 set to 38.4 (and I tested that with LynxTerm set at 38.4)
-serial connection between boards, just like the diagrams says.
-one instruction that puzzled me but i did anyway: “Connect I/O 4-7 Power Bus to 5vdc”
-I am programming the BotBoard with the arm1_pro.bas program from here: lynxmotion.com/images/files/arm1_pro.bas
-all parts including the controller are new and from Lynxmotion - ordered late last year
when trying to control the ARM via the wireless PS2/RC, the following works just fine
-gripper open/close - works fine
-gripper rotate - works fine
-gripper move up, down, in, out (ie, left joystick operations) - works fine
-base rotate - works fine
So i’m pretty close to everything working…
But there are two major problems:
Problem 1: Any up/down movement on the right joystick (supposed to be wrist up/down) causes a very strong motion of the large base up/down servo. Very strong and jerks the arm all the way down. Once the arm is all the way down (which happens no matter which way you move the joystick), i notice the wrist itself is actually working properly. But there is this unwanted giant movement of the base up/down servo.
The condition is entirely repeatable. I have tried reloading the s/w. also checked all wires etc. I believe the h/w is good because i can revert back to LynxTerm control and test each axis to be good.
Problem 2: The radio link does not connect reliably. I am detecting connection status by observing the red LEd on the reciever - it seems to stop blinking when the radio is able to connect. I notice this happens when the remote is powered on - but i have to power it on/off about 10x to get it to connect. It wont connect reliably.
Any suggestions would be most welcomed. I’m new to this list so my apologies if i’m missing something obvious.
thanks,
Matt
