Al5d hs-805bb problem

Hi,
i’m new to robotic, i bought the AL5D arm robot to do a similar project like this one:

youtube.com/watch?v=CkGqn5rNzK8

i’m using a 6V regulated power supply and Pololu Maestro, since i have Visual Basic example how to interact with the maestro controller. And 10 inches tubing. The weight of the tubing and servos that the HS-805BB support is 1 pound.

Using the maestro control center, i move the arm at the H1 coordinate of the chessboard, this is the maximum extension needed, and stay they a few minutes to do some reading of each servos values, i have burn 1 hs-805bb and the second one doesn’t seem to be able to lift anymore. Like something burn, it extend to position, but doesn’t retract, unless i bring it to a certain position. But was working fine at the beginning.

Is it too heavy or the arm lenght too long or combinaison of the two too much?

Thank’s
Reggie

The video is interesting, but he must be using different servos. I do not know what servos he used. Your 805 is likely damaged beyond repair.

do you have a recommandation, how strong the servo need to be?

Thank’s
Reggie

The author of the video said it was an AL5A, but the elbow servo looks standard size, not large scale. So he could be using 5990. Not sure.

After looking again I think it is the 755 bracket, so he may be using a 5745 servo. It’s not made anymore.
