AL5D Gripper Problem

Dear sir,

I am using the AL5D with
SSC-32
RIOS.
All works fine but in the Lynx ARM Config- and the MOVES - Menue the gripper is shown fully open when it’s closed and fully closed, when it’s open.
By checking / unchecking “reverse” in the SSC-32 Config I can manage to perform the Open / Close MOVE-Buttons in the MOVE - Menue correctly, but still the shown values and also the graphics of the gripper status are reversed.
What is wrong?

Yours,
Alexander

P.S.: I found this posting grip-control-opposite-in-rios-ssc-32-v1-06-t6874#p67690 but as described, the reverse - checkbox solves my problem only partially.

If you undo the servo (remove the screw holding it in place) and reverse the side, your issue should likely be resolved.
If not, check that the motion of the fingers is correct - the two plastic “arcs” should wrap around the center shaft. When you install the servo, be sure the servo is centered at 1500us, and the fingers are halfway between closed and opened.
Last, when sending a position command - be sure NOT to send a command where the servo is trying to force the fingers closed beyond where they can reach - as such the servo will burn. Close the fingers to a position where they almost tough.

Hm, according to the manual everything looks allright.
Do you think I shall reverse the servo with wires to the left?
So it’s a wrong servo because the wires should be to the right?

Assembly looks correct. RIOS is legacy software, so hard to know what might be causing the issue.
Suggest again to remove the servo and look at the motion of the arms which pull the fingers in and confirm they wrap around the center correctly.
The “easy fix” without knowing what might be the issue is to just reverse the servo.
All of these servos are identical - you did not receive a defective / different one - it’s likely the mounting or the software.

Hi,
I reversed the servo but nothing changed at all.
Indeed, reversing the servo around the axix will do no change to the clockwise / counterclockwise - direction? http://https://www.robotshop.com/forum/https://www.robotshop.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
But I discovered the solution:
The SSC-32 Config - settings for the gripper had been
Min Deg -90
Max Deg -20
I changed it to
Min Deg 0
Max Deg 90
and now everything is allright!

Indeed odd - that seems abnormal, but happy you discovered the solution.
