I have recently built an AL5A arm and it the gripper cannot close all the way, it has approximately a 2/3 of an inch gap. Is this the way the gripper is suppose to be or is there a problem?

The most common problem is to miss where it says “Tighten this down, but then unscrew it half a turn. Too much friction can bind the servo.” in step 17.
Another potential problem is you have the servo alignment wrong when you installed the servo into the gripper.

the servo is not the problem the actual gripper without the servo doesn’t close it sticks half way and even putting in the servo it sticks half way…what is wrong there?
Is it possible that you are rotating the round part the wrong direction? Show me…
