AL5

Helloes,

I have a problem with a AL5 robot.

When I try to control it via RIOS (latest), ARM -> Linear moves, move the sliders, when I move the horizontal slider, the robot moves vertically.
When I move the Distance slider, it moves in an about 30 degree angle from near top to far bottom.

eg. the world is off, and not by a 90 deg angle.

I have selected the correct Arm configuration in the RIOS Arm setup, AL5A with new base.

Any hints?

It sounds like you have two problems here:

First, check where your servos are plugged in. It should be

P0: Base
P1: Shoulder
P2: Elbow
P3: Wrist
P4: Gripper
P5: Wrist Rotate
It sounds like a few are switched around.

Secondly, did you adjust the elbow servo for use with RIOS? Go to step 24 in this guide. The elbow servo needs to be adjusted upwards 30°.

Hope this helps! :smiley:

Try connecting the robot to the PC and control it with LynxTerm. Check that each servo responds properly, ie.

0 = base rotate
1 = shoulder
2 = elbow
3 = wrist
4 = gripper
5 = wrist rotate (optional)

If this is correct, then ensure the serial communication is optimized for speed. Check out this thread. Remember all of these may apply no mater if it is talking about the SSC-32 or the Atom programming.

If none of this helps then please provide much more information. PC make, model, OS, style, serial port type, USB to serial model, images of wiring.

Just to be more clear, the pinouts are like this:

My sincere apologies I didn’t RTFM more carefully, this was the problem, working fine now.

Glad you got it working!

Now go and do something amazing with it. :smiley:
