Here is a picture of the new leg section being fabricated:

The idea is to have a humanoid robot look, but still retain a motorised “skid/steer” system where with drive wheel odomentry it is possible to achieve accurate area mapping.

Very well done. The OWI arms are noticeable, but spraypainting them white would add to the professional look and feel. The body, head and shoulders looks custom - perhaps vacuum-formed? Simple but effective means of emotional feedback (tri-color LED could express anger, joy and uncertainly). Voice recognition seems well done and no wires are visible. Do you plan to have it on a mobile base? Even having “fake” legs proprortional to its torso would add significnatly to the effect. Can’t wait to see if there will be a V2. Why no comments as to what it took to build it?

Images are so much better than a textual explanation and videos are so much cooler than images! Way to make a robot sound like it’s lost its marbles! “Daisy, daisy…” I really hope you have legs or a lower part in the works.

Hi Toymaker,

It is obvious you have experience in the field. Do you plan to re-do the hands so they have a more customized look? White would be nice.

Hi Coleman

The arms mechanics has been improved, AIMEC can pick up reasonably sized objects such as a drinks can etc. I want to greatly improve the arms, and I am looking for power servo’s for the job.

The robot currently has 7 PIC microcontrollers internally. This is a view from the back showing 2 processor nodes

The robots main intelligence comes from a wireless link to a laptop, speech recognition is resident on the laptop. Just added face recognition, and should have object recognition by the end of the year.

I am a toy inventor, and my modelmaker made the body from fibreglass.

Thanks for the interest!
