Anyone have experience with the Agent 390 base? robotshop.com/ca/en/agent-39 … .html#What
Drives forward and back just fine, but when I attempt to turn in place something seems to bind and the motor stalls. All in I have about 35lbs of weight including the frame, since its rated to 50 I didn’t expect this.
If you have the robot in the air with no load, do the motors turn correctly? If so, the load and the surface are what’s preventing it from turning.
Yeah, they work fine no load. Probably should have mentioned that to be clear.
Most of my work is done on tight office carpet similar to what is in the video, but the tracks seem to grip well on all the floor I’ve tried.
Just reread the description, it was this that made me assume 50lbs (The 18” x 16.42” aluminum chassis provides an extremely rigid base which can carry well over 50lbs.) Is possible the supplied motors are just not powerful enough to drive what the chassis can hold?
In order to turn, tracks essentially have to be able to slip sideways (no rolling involved, it’s more like a rubbing rubber against the carpet sideways). The payload is likely on flat terrain or turning in larger arcs, but not turning on the spot. The system as a whole is not ideal for that surface. If you needed something for carpet, tracks are not great; a 2WD robot with rear caster is best.
Cool thanks. That was actually going to be my next step.
Retrofit ahead! Woot!
