Afinibot a3s thinks it has dual extruders

Hi.

So i have being trying to get this printer working. I have it communicating with my mac (os yosemite) through Repetier Host. Had to update drivers for the usb to identify the printer connection. But no big deal there.

At this point all the motors are working and i can make adjustments to the x y and z axis.

but I keep getting an error message

For some reason the firmware is registering 2 extruders and there is no sensor for extruder 2 so This causes the heating elements to be disabled due to the sensor defect. I think.

Both the bed and extruder 1 sensors register the temperature and will graph the change in temperature as i put my hand on the heat bed and as well a finger on the extruder.

extruder 2 is reading -200 on the host status bar at the bottom.

I tried to turn off extruder two on the lcd panel but this does not register a change.
In the printer settings in repetier its set for only one extruder.

Is this a firmware issue? its listed as FW 1.4 on the LCD when i power the printer and 0.92.9 in Repetier.

Can’t seem to think of anything else.

Anyone seen this before and have a fix?

I’m not experienced in updating firmware so any tips on that with a mac would be grand as well. If it is a firmware issue that is…

Thanks,

Oliver

Hi Oliver,

You can flash the firmware, we have it available on the product page HERE.
Make sure you have the board powered when doing the manipulation (12VDC) and do not write the name of the file in capital letters.

Let us know if that solve your issue.

Hi. thanks for your reply. But i’m still a little unsure how to proceed using a mac.
The link has PC exe files and some version of instructions.

I cant seem to find a detail on how to flash it with a mac.

Thanks

Oliver

Hi Oliver,

You will need a Windows PC to do it.

Really?

I live on a tiny island off Vancouver and finding a pc isn’t as easy as one would think…

there’s no osx solution using terminal or with the arduino host?

thanks

Oliver

Hi Oliver,

This is the tool supplied by Afinibot.
You can try to run it using a software like Parallels but we don’t know the end result.

I think i’ll search out a PC. parallels has caused much pain in the past.

I’ll let you know if the update works

Thanks
