Hi. I’m in the UK and am interested in programming/playing with an autonomous robot. It needs to:
Be accessibly over a wireless link (Wifi or other).
Be built (or be such that I can protect it) for outdoor use.
Be able to move on [short] grass (without causing a lot of damage).
Be able to return to a charging point that can automatically recharge it.
Be able to carry a camera.
Allow me to configure some mechanism to prevent it falling into my pond…
Can anyone advise me as to a platform that might best do this?

Be accessibly over a wireless link (Wifi or other).
Usually you can adapt almost any robot with a microcontroller to WiFi control.
Be built (or be such that I can protect it) for outdoor use.
4WD or 6WD base might be best.

The tires for the platforms above are quite soft (air-filled)
Be able to return to a charging point that can automatically recharge it.
We are not aware of any outdoor robots (aside from robotic lawn mowers) which have a charging station.
Be able to carry a camera.
Most robots can carry a camera of some sort.

You can mount water sensors around the base of the robot.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll take a look at the 4WD or 6WD bases. It’s the lack of an automatic-return-to-charger solution that I’m most surprised about though: it seems one of the more obvious things to equip your robot with. I’ll have to invent one I suppose.
