hi, im looking to buy a rc transmitter/ receiver for a large robot project. so i have 5 servos 1 electro valve and 2 steering motors plus 3 sound commands that need to be accessed from the controller I am slightly confused in what I need. thanks
@Automatt Welcome to the RobotShop Community. Ideally you would have an RC interface for the valve and steering motors. If the valve is simply on/off, an RC controlled relay should work well. If the steering motors are normal DC, there are many DC motor controllers which accept RC input.
The weird part involves the sound commands since that is not at all RC, nor have any RC interface. As such, if you really need the sound commands, you might have to change the entire system over to serial and program a microcontroller.
Thanks for the reply. for the sound I think iam going to use a mp3 trigger and access it through an arduino ( so also this way i have the option of programmed sequences for movement in the future )
What i am confused about is wether there is a way of doubling channels if i use more than one receiver or if i need to buy enough channels already on the sender? I also have a few things that would be nice to run off joysticks and unless i build myself 2 is a max on most sender/ controllers.
This piece will be presented as an on stage performance and needs to be easy and discrete
Thanks.
M
@Automatt You can use a Y-Harness to send the same signal from the receiver to multiple items, but if you need to control different items, you will either need a remote control with the same number of channels that you need to control, or purchase multiple transmitters / receivers. We’re not aware of any way a transmitter created to control X channel can be used to control X+Y channels.
