Hi all. Being a newbie to the world of personal robots, I was looking to buy a new robot vacuum and was quite happy I came across Robotshop’s site.
I’ve narrowed my choices down to the Roomba 530 or the Infinuvo QQ-2L (or just the QQ-2). My question really would be what would the pros and cons of each model be? I’m tempted by the features and price alone of the QQ-2L vs the Roomba but if one lasts longer or does the work better than the other then it would affect my decision right there.
Thanks for any tips or advice!
@Jeff: Thanks for the feedback! Good to know the little roombie works great after so long. Certainly helps in my decision
@Vayvazyan
Thanks for all the info you just gave. Thats exactly what I wanted to hear about the Roomba / Infinuvo comparison. I’ll take a look at both models a bit deeper now
Salut bravoman78,
I have the roomba 500 since 2 years and I’m really happy with it. It does quite a great job. My house have a split level… The only place I must clean without my roomba is the stairs. It does a great job on carpets and wood. We don’t have cats or dogs so I don’t know if it does a good job with this kind of animal. There are places you’ll have to clean yourself : behind the toilet and behind the doors. Thats it. We have a small house and I think the roomba needs 2 cycles to clean the entire floor. When I want to clean the other level, I transport my roomba and activate it. I clean my roomba at 5 cycles. At 20 cycles, I do a full clean-up with hand cleaner. Also, the main filters are sold at Canadian Tires. It’s easy to have other parts with robotshop. Also, Robotshop offer a nice warranty if you have problem with your roomba. In my case, I don’t have problem with it. It’s marvelous. Having a robot like this is the possibilty to gain times to do other thing. Often, I activate my roomba when I clean my washroom. Two clean-up in one… it’s really cool. I hope to buy the scooba soon. The company iRobot is on the market since a decade and their products are really nice. They sold a lot to the US army and you can see some videos about their products on youtube. I bought the iCreate which is exactly the same thing of the roomba but with the possibility to program it and do whatever you want… like putting a robotic arm on it and so on.
But, I don’t know about the other model, an expert from robotshop will surely talk about it to you soon.
Wish you a good day,
Jeff
Good Morning bravoman78,
The pros and cons between the 530 and the QQ-2/QQ-2L are several.
The 530 will be able to cover a larger surface area than QQ-2/QQ-2L (3 rooms versus 2 respectively, on average). As well, the 530 performs admirably on carpets and hard floor/tile/etc, while the Infinuvos are really only meant for hard surfaces, as they perform poorly on carpets. The Roomba will pick up larger debris with it’s two counter-rotating brushes versus the Infinuvo’s one, and the Roomba is more intelligent, so it will cover your floors more efficiently and find it’s home base faster. Also, the 530 (and all other Roomba models we offer) comes with the 5-year RobotShop Lifetime Warranty, while the Infinuvo models only have the one year warranty. And we do have the Robot Hospital for repairing all fourth and fifth generation Roombas should you ever have need, and we carry many parts for the Roombas, while the Infinuvo models cannot be repaired.
That being said, the Infinuvo models do have a more powerful vacuum in them, a UV light for killing bacteria, and you can put fragrance in the robot as it cleans.
We do offer filters as well for the 500 series Roombas, and infact we have HEPA filters now in stock, as well as some other neat accessories for your Roomba that you might want to take a look at.
We recommend the Roomba as it is a better product overall, but ultimately the choice is yours. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
