Advice about parts and robot design

Hi all,

I’m new to this site and robotics it self so my questions could be silly, sorry about that in advance.

I want to made a robot which need to be controlled over internet. Idea is simple. I have a dog (and a girl ) and I travel a lot. I want to be able sit next to the computer in Australia, start some app and turn on robot in Europe. After that, I want record a video and see what my dog (and girl ) is doing. Also, there is some more things I want to do (of course, if it possible).

First is communication. I want to be able spoke with my loved ones (speaker and mic on robot), and lcd screen on robot witch will be connected with my camera on laptop and show of course me.

And one last thing. Is it possible Wireless charging batteries (like NFC in the mobile phones)?? So, idea is to feed robot with energy without “interruption” of third side.

I started to read How to make a robot lessons, and after fifth lesson I figured out that robot from this tutorial would be too small for my project, so I decided to post idea here and hope that somebody will help me. Now I am lost in all types of platform, types of actuators and their power, rpm, wheel radius etc. Also, my budget is around 500$ and I have feel that this will not be enough for what I want. :frowning:

Any advice will be very appreciated, thank you very much in advance.

Essentially you want a telepresence robot. You can either try to design one yourself, or save quite a bit of time and money and opt for a more finished product:
robotshop.com/en/guide-telep … obots.html
Ex: robotshop.com/en/twinbot-tel … =RB-Twi-02
The only thing they would need to do is ensure the units stay charged.

If you don’t need it to be mobile, consider:
robotshop.com/en/swivl-robot … =RB-Svl-02

At the very least, these might give you some ideas.
