Actuator for upper limb orthosis

Hi!
We are making an upper limb orthosis as a student project. We need an actuator for the elbow and are thinking about using the RMD-X6 S2 Brushless DC Gear Servo motor. The motor needs to be strong enough to lift the arm, and therefore we need a minimum stall torque of 8Nm. The arm is not supposed to move fast, around 0.7 rpm.

Do you think that this motor would be a good fit?

@Rebecka (A late) Welcome to the RobotShop Community. If you have done the calculations and found that 8Nm is sufficient, and that motor can provide 18Nm, then you should be fine. If your calculations didn’t factor something in like payload, acceleration or something else, then there might be an issue.
