Hi I have seen examples where an accelerometer is connected via Arduino to a hobby servo . My question relates to the size of servo that arduino can drive?
The servo I want to use is a 50kg Hi torque servo CYS S8218. Would there be any problems specifically related to the size of the servo?
Thanks for any advice, R.
Arduino should be able to drive any regular RC Hobby Servo without an issue. However, for power, it is strongly recommended to power the servo through an external power supply that matches the rated voltage of the servo and that is able to provide as much current as the servo needs under load. Usually, servos with higher torque consumes higher current.
You can use an I/O Expansion Shield with a separate external power input for the servo VCC bus and I/Os broken into 3 pins for easy connection with the servo. An example would be the Gravity I/O Expansion Shield for Arduino.
You can refer to the Arduino Servo library for Arduino example codes.
thanks Brahim, I much appreciate your input. I am in Australia and the costs of shipping from the USA is considerable so do you have outlets within AU that are linked to robot shop ? Thanks again R
The shipping time and cost depends on the size and weight of the package. We do have several shipping options available. You can go on our website and add the products you want to your shopping cart.
You can then click on Get estimate which is located on the right hand side, under the ‘‘my cart’’.
