About V2: Written assembly guide?

I find the video assembly guide pretty skimpy. Is there not a step by step written guide?

At the time the guide was written, we had quite a lot of feedback about assembly guides, so to respond to demand, we made the video only. The assembly guide for the motor gearbox is included with the package (configuration C only). The Tamiya tracks also have assembly guides. After that, it’s simply a matter of adding the side brackets and some washers.

I did it but it took much more searching than I would have wanted to do. The video is OK but definitely insufficient. For example there are (I don’t know,) 5 or 6 metal shafts of slightly differing lengths and other than trial and error I don’t know how you expect someone to tell them apart. I’ve built many kits (not robots) and they usually have very clear and detailed instructions.

Are you referring to the Tamiya gearbox? There are also printed instructions with the Tamiya Gearbox as well as the video assembly: youtu.be/MWWoEul9Qsk?t=22
We are always open to ideas as to how to improve any welcome any suggestions you might have.

There are so many things that are vague, so my suggestion is to revisit the instructions as well as the video. And make written instructions. Or even enroll this community to help you write written instructions.

Vague things (off the top of my head)

  • what direction the metal brackets go. There’s a front and back but it’s not documented or shown anywhere
  • how exactly to attach the AA battery holder
  • what screws are meant for where. There are different size screws, some nuts, some washers, some lock washers. I am guessing about which goes where
  • the fact that the black wire that is used to connect motors to the board actually has to be cut into 4 sections should be mentioned somewhere

And more

So: suggestion is to write a proper building instructions booklet

Appreciate the feedback. For your current situation, please tell us if you are able to assemble the rover correctly.
