A strange request perhaps? programmable DC power source?

I’m hoping someone can help. I’m looking for a DC power supply that can vary from 0-20V and provide up to 6 amps of current. I need to control the voltage using a 0-10V or 0-5V analog signal.

Similar to a bench top power supply with a programmable analog input, but hoping for something less expensive. We don’t need the dials and digital display, only the voltage control.

The purpose of this supply is to drive a brake which is basically a resistance of 3 ohms. I’m not sure if this is clear.

My thought was to find a small DC motor controller and connect a 24VDC supply to the input… I don’t know if this is possible.

Searching, this is how I came across your website related to robots… To clarify, I’m not using this with any kind of robot. I only need an analog controlled DC source… (OEM type to save cost). So far evertyhing off the shelf is in the $1000 range.

Not sure if anyone has any ideas but I’m hoping for some guidance.

Regards,

Jeff

Can’t say we have come across this. Most DC motor controllers will still provide a specific voltage.
If you are using the changes in voltage to control the speed, then yes, you should read up on analog DC motor controllers.
