A-Pod and Felix will be Lynxmotion kits!

Hello All,

I have an agreement with Kare (Zenta) to make A-Pod and Felix into robot kits! 8)

Now this will not happen overnight. My plan is to start with A-Pod chassis, femur and tibia. Mandibles and Abdomen will come later. It will not have the plastic molded curvy parts though. It will be made from 0.06" anodized aluminum panels as our other products, like Phoenix and CH3-R. It will have the same dimensions and hopefully the same look and feel of the original A-Pod. I will try to develop Felix at the same time as A-Pod. It’s going to take some time. I just wanted to make the announcement now. As for the code, we will release what he has developed, but it’s a complex robot and short of building a DIY radio, control options will need to be developed. Wow I can’t believe I took this on. I’m so overworked. lol

I was wondering when this would happen! GREAT!

I know molded parts might not be as cost effective, but it would be cool if you could offer a bolt on spine as an option later on. It could be a simple plastic part that is screwed on to the aluminum plate or a molded top plate like zentas design. The cruves really compliment the design.

Curves or not, the new A-pod will be an awesome addition. Will it be called A-Pod or something different?

That’s one thing we didn’t discuss. I’m open to ideas.

Well then, how bout ZAIH (Zenta’s Ant Inspired Hex) could be pronounced as Ziye as in “Z then eye”.

or Z-HEX

That is great! Both should be a lot of fun

Kurt

great news jim, congrate zenta.

you can always adopt the name i use for my Ant robot project… Ant-Artic! and articulated ant?
or just give it a model number… “Whats in a name anyway”

cant wait. 8)

Awesome!

This sure will be a great kit to play with! Gratz both Jim and Zenta! 8)

How about Thor? a tribute to the Norwegian Creator? 8)

That’s a good one!

What does the creator think of it?

Hi,

Yes, this is very exciting indeed!
There are several things I would like to redesign/improve when it comes to A-Pod. Ex. having all electronics in the abdomen isn’t the way to go. All servo wires need to be extended and all the wires are a real challenge to guide along the 2 DOF joint without getting in conflict. Its probably easier to place the battery there.

I wish Lynxmotion good luck in making a hopefully better version of A-Pod!

BTW: Sometimes I feel its easier to give a robot a new name when I’ve seen it first…

When can we expect these products to go commercial? How much will each cost?

It’s like, December… lol

Not a lot of development time right now. Look for something in a few months.

Any idea on price?

Yes, it’s the amount of money we will ask in exchange for the kits, but that’s not important right now…

Sorry I was forced to watch Airplane recently. :stuck_out_tongue: Sigh, no I don’t know what the price will be yet.

You mean you were Priviledged to watch Airplane recently.

The price will be the cost of production + 100% markup.

So like 1200 bucks?

Spartan. Please, stop asking about pricing. If we knew, we’d have posted it already. Since we haven’t, it’s pretty clear that we haven’t worked the pricing out just yet. Trust me, we’re not withholding information to make you sad. We just don’t know yet. You’ll know when we know! :frowning:

Sorry!!! thanks
