I have an agreement with Kare (Zenta) to make A-Pod and Felix into robot kits! 8)
Now this will not happen overnight. My plan is to start with A-Pod chassis, femur and tibia. Mandibles and Abdomen will come later. It will not have the plastic molded curvy parts though. It will be made from 0.06" anodized aluminum panels as our other products, like Phoenix and CH3-R. It will have the same dimensions and hopefully the same look and feel of the original A-Pod. I will try to develop Felix at the same time as A-Pod. It’s going to take some time. I just wanted to make the announcement now. As for the code, we will release what he has developed, but it’s a complex robot and short of building a DIY radio, control options will need to be developed. Wow I can’t believe I took this on. I’m so overworked. lol
I know molded parts might not be as cost effective, but it would be cool if you could offer a bolt on spine as an option later on. It could be a simple plastic part that is screwed on to the aluminum plate or a molded top plate like zentas design. The cruves really compliment the design.
Curves or not, the new A-pod will be an awesome addition. Will it be called A-Pod or something different?
Yes, this is very exciting indeed!
There are several things I would like to redesign/improve when it comes to A-Pod. Ex. having all electronics in the abdomen isn’t the way to go. All servo wires need to be extended and all the wires are a real challenge to guide along the 2 DOF joint without getting in conflict. Its probably easier to place the battery there.
I wish Lynxmotion good luck in making a hopefully better version of A-Pod!
BTW: Sometimes I feel its easier to give a robot a new name when I’ve seen it first…
Spartan. Please, stop asking about pricing. If we knew, we’d have posted it already. Since we haven’t, it’s pretty clear that we haven’t worked the pricing out just yet. Trust me, we’re not withholding information to make you sad. We just don’t know yet. You’ll know when we know!
