I am an artist who builds toy robots and I have made many toy robots from various movies that were never made into toys.
I did make the Johnny 5 Robot Model and sold the artwork as artistic pieces. I am not here to place an advertisement and will not do so, I just wanted any body who is a fan of the robot to feel free to comment at my thread here.
I would be happy to discuss anything related to Johnny 5 Robot Model or Toy Version
Your in luck Casmet! There are toy versions coming out, I am working with an engineer friend and we’ve got the process going to produce a toy version of Johnny 5. They should be ready by the end of September, if you want to know more just let me know, Thanks
The Johnny 5 toy which is called “ROBOT V” will be over 13 inches in height, 5 inches wide and 9 inches in depth it will be an action figure like robot with move-able arms, head, torso and treads! The first batch will not be motorized as of yet but can be made later with sounds too.
We are awaiting the prototypes within a couple of weeks, and will let everyone know when they are ready to sell from JozRobotics.com you can check them out there.
As for making them in any form other than the original looking I know that they will be able to be converted to any of the looks from either movie, but it will take some skill to get them built and painted that way by those that are skilled enough to do so.
I really hope these take off well, and would love to make many more with each generation they should become fully working Lights and sound (Electronic) plus movement kind of toy robot. Depends on demand?
Will the toys be static or will there be some motorized motion? How tall will each unit be (upright position, from base of tracks to top of head). If you can add motors that would be even more awesome!
You even included the scarf! It would not take much to make the tracks motorized and to put a small laser in the toolbox. Do you know if there is a remake of the movie planned?
Johnny 5 is alive! Add a few LEDs for the mouth and some auditory background quotes and you have the real deal. You can embed the video here rather than linking to it. The attention to detail is evident.
If you would like to be considered as a supplier, contact us via the RobotShop Support Center, manufacturers section and include links and images, as well as your MSRP and the distributor margin you would be able to provide.
Double Rainbow Awesome! Welcome to our community forum Mike.
We are secretly (well not so secretly anymore) fans of Johnny 5. Thanks for sharing your renders with us. Too bad that you Johnny 5 was not made into a toy. I would have certainly got one!
